Welcome from the Chief
Dear Springy Fans,
We have so many exciting things to share with you so this newsletter is a bit longer than usual. But trust me it’s well worth your time to read it in great detail.
We start off with an interview with Andrea Sevetson from ProQuest – Andrea and her team are using LibGuides to share content with their library clients. It’s great to be working with ProQuest as our first “vendor partner”, and you can look forward to more partnerships like this in the future. As LibGuides & CampusGuides become the go-to platform for sharing content and information, we will be working with more companies to bring their content into our platform as well.
Then there is our S.E.I. initiative that we will unveil in the next few weeks. What’s S.E.I., you say? Here’s the scoop – last time we did a somewhat major admin interface update was circa 2008. Yeah, I know – ancient times in web years. Since then we have added tons of new features to our platform (several hundred new features, if you could believe it!) so we kept adding options, tabs, subtabs etc to our admin screens.
As you can imagine, things became a bit cramped, and all over the place, so to speak. Hence, a few months ago we started a major spring cleaning of our platform – under the code name of S.E.I.: Simplify, Eliminate, Integrate. Simplify the options and menus, Eliminate duplication and unnecessary stuff, and Integrate our products.
S.E.I. will be a work in progress for a while (just like our original interface has been a work in progress) but we have enough good changes that we will introduce the first iteration of S.E.I. updates in the next few weeks. As always, we are using this code update to also introduce several really cool new features, so you can expect some great feature enhancements in this new release.
Last but not least, we have been quietly working on some *major* (and I mean major) new products and modules, and are providing a sneak peek to our clients here – there is Mobile Site Builder, LibAnalytics, LibCal, LibChat, and oh my... so much good stuff. This means I should stop here and let you read the actual newsletter which Anna and her crew put together.
Thanks very much for being on board and – as always – we’re here if you have any questions or concerns.
-Slaven & the Springy Team
