What is a Dataset?
A dataset is simply what it says: a set of data you're collecting. You can collect data on anything in your library: questions (reference / circ / info desk / info commons), instruction, projects, foot traffic, feedback forms (website, database trials, etc.), or whatever else your imagination can drum up!
- What types of data you collect in your library;
- What types of data you want to collect;
- What are the logical groupings of data? By service point? By type of data (counts vs. qualitative)? By department?
Writing things out can help you see those logical groupings.
You should collect what is right for your library.
The dataset ideas below may help you in this process...just remember: these are simply ideas to help get the creative juices flowing.
